Today's USAF

Back Country, In Country, etc. Sorta' off topic but like it or not the face of the USAF may be a bit prettier these days...

The 376th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, flew an ALL FEMALE KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling mission over Afghanistan earlier this year. Early on Jan. 31, a KC-135 Stratotanker took off from Ganci Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, carrying more than 180,000 pounds of fuel and an all-female crew-both pilots, a navigator and a boom operator. The event marked the first all-female crew to fly an air refueling mission into Afghanistan from Ganci. Capt. Heather, and the boom operator, Senior Airman Lyndi, are all assigned to the 99th Air Refueling Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

That is really cool. But, I'm starting to feel old...they all look like they're in junior high.

I actually know two of the four in that picture. I have 3000 hours riding in a KC-135. Your right about the age. Most pilots are in their 20's and because being a Boom Operator doesn't require 4 years of a college and a commission they can be as young as 18 or 19. I'm guessing the boom in that pic... (bottom right) is probably only 20. Here's another picture of a C-130 crew I came across on the AirForce webpage.
