Today was a real good day...

:D :D :D :D

Nothing but smiles today!! Spent the day with my pops flying around in a P51 Mustang!!!

Holy S*#t ....I am on cloud nine. 350mph, 90 degree banked turns and then the pilot said...ok, turn the camera off and it got real fun. SERIOUSLY

Kinda freaking out...What a day to say the least. Now I am thinking about Mountainflyer and his Pawnee. Wondering if a Mustang can have BW's put on it. Damn!!! What a thought. Naaaah...it was unreal just the way it was...The power from that Rolls Royce engine on takeoff is unlike any power I have ever felt. The T6 I flew has nothing on this machine. Oh man...

Here are a few photos.

Anyone else ever get in one of these?

Re: Today was a real good day...

My brother bought me a ride in the 51 at Planes of Fame in Chino about 15 yrs ago. I'd only had time in 172's & 182's. On take off it's real obvious that this plane is severely over powered :D The ride only lasted about 20 minutes, but worth every penny he paid for it  P-51's are definitely the cream of the crop :!:

Not yet, one day. I don't complain. I've got 1.5hrs in an F-15 and a couple of sorties in an F-16 dropping 500lb'ers and buddy lazing.

Re: Today was a real good day...

That just priceless to spend that special moment with your dad! Very cool!

I'm still kicking myself in the rear for passing up a P-51 ride back around 95-96 at the Reno Air Races. It was late in the afternoon early in the week and one of Hannah's friends was giving a couple of rides in a stock P-51. I was asking some questions to Hannah about the plane and Bob asked if I wanted a ride. He explained it would be tough for a big guy like me to get in and be comfortable. So I passed on the offer cause I didn't want to be jammed in there and not enjoy the ride. That was also back when I wasn't a total airplane nut case. Now I know how special it would be to get a ride. So next time if the offer comes up, I'll say "Hell yeah!!!". Jam me in there and I'll be happy to just hear and feel the power of the P-51!!

That would be one of the top 5 things do do, before you die, for any pilot. BTW, Like money, there is no such thing as too much power. =D>

Awesome! That and a flight in the left seat of a PBY are on the top of my list.

Sweet, I have seen the rides at the air shows/etc. Did you line this up as a private thing? Would love more than a 20 minute ride in one.

the real pilot is on the wing. I just got the hero photo, and all because he was a fan of the Greg Swingle Ohio Bush Plane videos. ( check out his hat!)
