Tolovana Hot Springs

Any Fairbanksans flown into Tolovana? If so, how is the strip and what about the trees on both ends? Just saw a flyer at Tamarak and thought it sounded like a good trip.

Know the strip, and I saw the same flyer on Tamarak's board. But I haven't looked at it beyond deciding it's not somewhere I want to take my 150.

I used to go in there years ago and it was good shape then but that was years ago. Used to be a Cat. parked at the North end presumably for the strip and road.

Well, I've got a 170B with the c-145 and 1500 is plenty of runway, but I'll have to take a look at those trees. Any input Jeremy? Thanks.

My input is very out of date. There were no trees that posed a hazard when I used to go in there. There were trees on the North end as you walk down the trail, and tall ones down in the bottom where the water is. In all these years, trees could easily have grown quite high.

Tolovana

hi there....spent 8 years living in Nenana (ENN) '77 to '85.....flew a lot south to AK range, minchumina, Wien Lake lodge, etc...don't recall where the Tolovana strip is....near the Tolovana "Loge"....landed once near there on a SAR mission on floats on the Tanana Rv. Used to fly w/Wayne Walters from Nenana.....he had a SC and liked to take me 'cause I only weighed 125#....(back then)....

When you say Tamarack...you talking about the Tamarack Lodge on the Parks Hwy?? Long time ago....last there for a visit in '93

got the coordinates for the strip?? Safe flyin....
