Re: Tom-Tyler Memorial Fly in-Powers, OR (6S6)

I just got off the phone with Powers Tom. He left us a truck, wood, fire starter etc. We can use the outhouse at the "hangar end" of the the strip and he was thinking of leaving us a fun way to get back and forth.

Looking like a nice group coming together. Looking forward to it.

Can you by chance confirm Robs above post that he also left a communal BBQ?

I never but the key to the shop is in the truck
And you can go get it. Too heavy and no one to help load it. Brent knows about it. Have fun wish i could be there!

Thanks for your hospitality Tom! Love your place down there and look forward to meeting you some day! We'll get some dead animal grilled up one way or another this weekend  I may just pack my small BBQ or use open flame for ease this trip.

I should get in around 3pm tomorrow. Looking forward to it, weather looks great! Ill be stoping in Bend for some of that $3.79 fuel. :D

Is there drinking water on the field? Also wondering if I should bring my small BBQ grill, but sounds like Tom has us covered. Id be glad to help go get the grill.

Cheers, Ken

Hey Ken, no water on the field but town is a short drive and Tom left us a truck. I'll be down about the same time. Camp SE end of runway.

I'll have the generator for music and whatever.

Just heard from another buddy. 2-4 more planes coming.

Cheers...Rob

Re: Tom-Tyler Memorial Fly in-Powers, OR (6S6)

Powers unicom is 122.9.

Wind should be out of the north all weekend, so plan left traffic landing to the north. Lets use "White and Red Maule" etc. instead of N numbers and announce often. The town of Powers is just to the north of the runway, and then the canyon funnels down as the river flows to the north. The usual canyon flying procedures apply......stay to the right side of the canyon etc. Most all of the traffic coming in tomorrow will end up north of town to get down into the canyon, then end up over the town of Powers entering left downwind, so expect this. As Burson would say, fly like the FAA is watching :D

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Re: Tom-Tyler Memorial Fly in-Powers, OR (6S6)

Well, I'm negative for strep throat. I had to spend half of my morning in a waiting room to find that out. I didn't sleep much last night and can barely swallow. I'm in no condition to fly :( . Which is a bummer because my bags are packed, my food in purchased, my jokes are prepped and I have tie downs for my chair (you know who you are  ). But, unfortunately I have to cancel on what was shaping up to be a great weekend. Not what I was hoping for. Have fun, fly safe and post pictures.

Sorry you are not feeling well.......

Chair tie downs are a good idea when you plan to be around high thrust Maules........Not so much of an issue with Cessna products......or maybe its the maule drivers???
