Took Some Video This Weekend

Went to Schafer Meadows this weekend for the work party and then to JC, Warm Springs and West Fork Lodge Sunday and Monday. I cobbled together a RAM mount along with scavenging parts from a spotting scope tripod. I was able to get most of the camera shake out of it with a well placed rubber band but a digital 8 camcorder is still relatively heavy and it was suction cupped to the copilots side window. I'd like to get a lipstick camera and mount it to the top of the windshield and feed it into the camcorder. I didn't know it at the time but I saw Bub at JC on Sunday, camped right next to him. Figured that out when I got home and saw the post here. Here's some of the video I took. Landing at Schafer.

Landing at JC.

Departing Warm Springs. Somehow had the camera set to Night Shot for the landing so that didn't turn out at all.

Landing at West Fork Lodge.

Also from a few weeks ago landing at Ryan Field at West Glacier. Shot by a friend of mine from Bozeman.

To give some perspective here's a Cub, a 180 and a 185 all landing at about the same time that day.

BM, at 1:58 on the Schafer video, I sat up a little straighter in my chair. That was when this clear spot on the side of the mountain was lined up at 12:00 for a few seconds. I'm thinking this is going to be exciting, but then you kept turning. Still, it's a nice video. Thanks.

Bonanza Man -

I didn't get a chance to meet you at Schafer, as I was kept fairly busy throughout the day. Altough, to be honest, there were so many Bonanzas there I wasn't sure who you were. All V-tails too.

Anyways, nice videos. =D>

The 180 and 185 flew up from Meadow creek that day with me. We were at the work party there that weekend. I've known the owner of the 180 and his daughter for several years, I met the 185 owner that weekend. They both are very involved in getting the new strip at Russian Flat up and going. When we got to Ryan the 180 pilot told me to go ahead and land, he wanted to survey the situation. I landed and he said something like..."You bastard" on the radio. I had to park first before he could land so I was standing there with this shit eating grin on my face when he walked up. I asked him what the south part of the strip was like, I hadn't had a chance to see that part yet. I have no idea who the Cub pilot is, I may have met him there that day but didn't put him together with his plane.

When I see BRD I automatically think of Brainerd. Is that where you're from? We grew up in the Twin Cities and spent a lot of time in the summers at a resort near PKD as well as a lot of places in northern MN.
