Pics of my new Skywagon N185BS

I finally took the time to learn how to imbed photos. We had a great time canyoneering last weekend using Angel Point as a base camp. It was my first time fully utilizing the skywagon to get lots of gear and folks somewhere remote. It did awesome. Whos going someplace cool? I'll meet you there.

Very nice...very nice. That looks like a blast. Did you camp overnight at Angel Point?? We just did a hike close to there to see the Happy Canyon Narrows. Killer hike you could access from the Dirty Devil Airstrip but I'm still too chicken to go in there. Please share any additional photos of the hike, I love that area down there.

Sweet plane/trip! If I head that way anytime soon I'll let you know. I need to get back there sooner than later.

We flew in just before sundown on Saturday, there's a bit of a hump at the approach end for 26, and I bounced it pretty good, but got it down. My buddy Tim came in with his 206 and we had a great night, perfect weather and some good food and drink.

We started hiking at 8am, 2 miles or so until we could drop into the north fork of No Mans Canyon. After another 1/2 mile it slots up nicely for about a mile. 4 rappels gets you to the biggie where you need a long rope and then a long pretty canyon hike until the trail out. Back ontop there was another 4 miles back to the planes. About 15 miles total. Awesome loop details are in Steve Allens canyoneering book, can't remember which volume. I'll be doing this one again.

DS,
Nice airplane and adventure. Those slot canyons are beautiful. I have only been to Zion and done some of the canyons there. Would love to fly in.......Think Rob B. mentioned you had redone the panel? Any pics?

How far is Happy Canyon from the Dirty Devil strip?

Brad:

Congratulations and welcome to the fraternity (such as it is)!! 180s & 185 are incredible beasts of burden. If you can fit it in, you can usually get it off the ground.

Looks like you are in the Durango area. If you haven't already met up with Gary (shortfielder), make sure you look him up. He is in Durango and has a tricked out 180 with a bigger engine, STOL, etc.. You won't have to coax much to get him out into the backcountry.

Regards, Larry

Thanks Highroad-

I'll post pictures of the panel in a few days when I get them. I am worried that the grizzled old BCP pilots are gonna make fun of the gadgets in my panel. There's a alot of glass for a 185. So far I like it and I still look outside on occasion.

My guess is a 1-1.5 hr. hike (walk) to the mouth of Happy Canyon. The Narrows section is the first 2 miles of the canyon heading up from the Dirty Devil River. That strip is said to be paradise on earth but its also 1200ft.long and soft dirt.
