Stealing a mans cub  .... Should have the same punishment as stealing a horse in the old west.

Re: This Super Cub was stolen from the Twin Falls airport!

I built this cub.... It belongs to a very good friend of mine. He called me earlier this evening to let me know the news.
This cub is very distinctive..... Not in just the paint job but the entire aircraft has numerous custom items that stand out from your typical cub. It has Kydex interior, titanium firewall, upper and lower baggage systems, Lycon built 0-320 with Leading Edge exhaust, 35 inch Bushwheels and full glass doors just for starters.

Thanks.

Brian.

edit: Jerry informed me that it currently has the 29 inch Gar Aeros on it and he left the 35's in Alaska.

Here is a link to my facebook page showing some of the build:

Here's a link to a flyer some of you might want to print out and hang on an FBO or Terminal wall

Twin Falls is a decent size town, 50k pop I think, never been to the airport but would image it to be a nice one. Was this plane in a hangar on the field or was it out on someone's place?
I realise even if it's locked up that if someone wants in there is always a way....but boy this kind of stuff makes a guy nervous. I can go 7-10 days without being out at the airport and to stop in and have your plane gone...... :x
Would be nice to know more on how this happened, only to help prevent it from happening else where.......for now the keys are in my pocket and the hangar door is always locked. Eyes open for people that don't belong at the airport.
Hope the guy find his plane.....

This was right off of the Twin Falls airport. Behind the fencing and card gates, and in a locked hangar.
The owner hadn't been there in about a month, figure it left about two weeks ago.

Re: This Super Cub was stolen from the Twin Falls airport!

I had a real nice Chevy Tahoe and about $7500 worth of tools and other hangar goodies stolen out of my hangar at KRAL several years ago while the wife and I had flown out of town just overnight. The airport management was less than cooperative and not at all sympathetic, Their security system (cameras) was new and not functioning as advertised. I had to borrow a gate card from the local FBO to let the police in  WTF :?:
My insurance paid well, but it really wasn't worth the aggravation. Home owners covered the goodies tools and such but you gotta tell them that all that stuff is normally at the house and you just brought it down temporarily.

Obviously somebody knew what they wanted in my case and in this case also. I for a long time had a hard time leaving my hangar open even when I was right there. Everybody that drove or walked by and looked into my hangar was not trusted unless I knew them well.

Good luck on recovering your Cub :(

Oops. I posted this in another thread.

Y'all assume the stolen Cub was flown. Removing the wings and horizontal tail from a Cub is pretty simple work. Let the air out of (or remove) the tires and the whole thing rolls nicely into a typical 4 place enclosed snowgo trailer or a car trailer. There's plenty of room on the sides for the wings. Quick, quiet, and the plane remains out of sight. Two guys and a couple of hours is all it would take.

Yeah, I kinda wish somebody would do that with my plane. I'm fully covered and still have the hull value at $60K. My hangar is located at _____ and I'll be gone on the road for work for about ______ months :D :D

Good for you guys. I'd be bummed to lose my plane to a thief. My plane represents
more than a money investment. We're emotionally involved.

I find it hard to believe that would happen in Twin Falls. I'll keep my eyes open. Hope you get it back and they catch the bastards.

I did the same thing once with my boat. Had told a buddy what slip it was in and where the key was.. Few months later I drive down to go fishing and the boat was gone. Made for an interesting day running around the harbor...
