Trig TT22 bundle

I need a transponder, and am eyeing the Trig 2020 ADS-B bundle from ‘spruce for use here in British Columbia and Alaska. Any advice those familiar can offer, or suggestions on alternatives you’d look at first? I’ve used Mode C for years but never have given a second thought to the units themselves, Mode S, or anything about the actual system. In other words, complete systems novice trying to make a choice on which is best for me. I like light and small, and would prefer certified systems incase I move it over to the 185 we’d like to acquire next.

Honestly, I think its going to he very hard to beat the AV-30/tail beacon setup. Mode S, ADS-B with diversity for Canada, and a very nice artificial horizon replacement. The AV-30 is the controller for the transponder, which is built into the tail beacon.

I'm sure the Talibeacon X is the way to go, but I bought a used regular Tailbeacon for now. I think it will be many years before Canada mandates anything for GA, and I want to be able to go to the USA now.

Oh wait I can't go anyway. I have new great nephew just over the border and am jonesing to get down there.

Believe it or not, you can still fly to the states, Canada is just going to make you quarantine for two weeks when you get home. I get that can conflict with work schedules! For me I just need to overfly, as the quickest way home is through Alaskan airspace without landing. I don’t need to worry yet about what one has to do, to do that as I don’t need to make the trip til next fall. Cross that bridge when we get there.

Guys, thanks for the AV30 / TailbeaconX referral, that’s a new one to me. I really like the little artificial horizon, nice freebie to gain and could save the bacon one day flying the coast. Bravo, appreciate that lead.
