Trigger Gap, 17A, Berryville, AR--Pirep

Has anyone on here been to Trigger Gap in NW Arkansas? Is anyone planning to be there this weekend (Memorial Day?) I'm planning on bringing my 3.5yr old daughter in the 195 for a little camping. I have the safety briefing off the RAF site, but I'd love to get a recent field condition report from someone before I head that way.

Cheers!

Update: Went there Memorial Day Weekend. I'll try not to duplicate info that is already on the RAF site. The strip is huge and in really good shape. The ground is pretty rocky and has some slope so I don't think it would be unusable after a heavy rain. The topography makes the approach sporty.

I understand there are plans for a vault toilet but at this time you'll need to plan on packing out everything.

Somebody made some sweet benches out of felled logs, but they were unfortunately infested with ants. There's no water, and not much shade so plan for that. Fire pits are nice, albeit quite deep. I suppose they were planning for ash buildup, but at any rate I brought my Tuscan grill and was able to, with some difficulty, grill an Argentinian churrasco, corn and potatoes on a wood fire. And marshmallows.

Re: Trigger Gap, 17A, Berryville, AR--Pirep/Info request

I was there at the end of February. Strip was in great shape. The west end is a little more rolly than some other strips but nothing that you shouldn't be able to handle. Also, there are tall pines on the east end and a bluff on the west end that can create some squirrely winds if they are are already blowing. We have had some rain in Arkansas this week, but because it sits up on a bluff I doubt it would ever get too wet to land on.

From a camping perspective, I think it would be great. No water that I saw, so come prepared.

This strip is a great resource and my hat is off to the RAF and those who helped get it done!

Bump. I just edited my original post instead of creating a new one.
