TX-NM-AZ-CA-NV-AZ-NM-CO-UT-NV-ID-WA-BC-AK
Get together with other pilots or enthusiasts. Plan it or get info about it here.
The week of the 15th of April will see me flying the 185 from TX to Calif for a quick ash scattering get together with family. Then from Calif I'll be bringing her back to Alaska via Santa Fe, NM and then hopefully the coastal route or the Cassiar.
First leg from TX to Calif will be 50R to somewhere around Phoenix/Tucson. Spend the night then on to Santa Ynez CA via Apple Valley where I'll spend a few days with Family.
Then it's on to ABQ and SAF for a couple of days. Then north, won't know exactly how till it's time to head that way and which route is open.
Anyone in the Tucson or Santa Ynez area? Would be cool to say howdy.

On your way west from 50R, feel free to buzz us at 30TS on the way west. Don't get too low since I had to put up an electric fence to keep the cattle and horses out of the way (it's the only spot they like to graze on the whole damn place...).

If you are crossing the border anywhere near Vancouver I would recommend Boundary Bay, Abbotsford or Langley. Langley only works if you have canpass. I am based in Langley CYNJ. Can meet up at any of the above for coffee or ? and can provide help or ground transportation .

KenW, can you please PM me with your contact info? If I come that way (which I hope) I'd definitely like to get together.
Bart, good to hear from you, not sure if I'll stop in Madera since the family will all be in Santa Ynez. But maybe. Thought I had your contact info but looks like I don't. Can you please PM it to me.
Thanks folks.

So Easter Sunday (Apr 21) finds me flying from Santa Ynez (KIZA) to Madera (KMAE). That's like a hour fifteen flight. Family I will spend the night with will be driving (like 4+ hours)- I know hard to imagine that anyone still drives isn't it. Anyway I'll have some time, anyone in the area of that route? Maybe I'll check out Pismo Beach. Back when I was a kid I spent a bunch of time four-wheeling the dunes. Hmm, maybe rent a buggy and play in the sand.

Shoot, I missed the date range on your first post. I'll miss you this time around. I'll be in FL that weekend at SimCom for a Turbo Commander initial. I'll PM you my contact for future reference, though. Safe travels!

Let me know if you head over to Kern Valley for food. We’re long overdue for a Kern Valley breakfast.

No, we use them for an Air Attack platform on fires. I do mostly helicopter firefighting now, but they want to get me checked out for next season and some charter work in the off-season...fine with me, they are cool airplanes!

Won't know which route I'll take until mid-next week. I'll post here once I know and if it works out that'd be fine.

Boy that was brutal! Flew against 35-50 knot headwinds from Junction to El Paso where I decided to surrender for the day after looking at the mountains I need to cross and just imagining what the white water would be like. Was planning on making it to Tucson.
Did manage my shortest ever landing in the 185 and right in front of an airliner. Never flown 140 indicated on short final before. Just short of the runways threshold I pulled power, drop three notches of flaps and hovered down right at the end of the runway. Landing took 10’. The Robertson made it feel just like landing the SQ2.
Then I had a 3,000 foot taxi to the FBO at 2mph ground speed and the stall horn screaming. Phew! (Okay maybe It was more like 2,000 feet and 5 mph- but you get my point) [emoji851]

unsettled spring Wx and the Guadalupes... no fun at all. Last week was absolutely miserable here with wind. This week, not so bad. A Robbie in big wind IS like a cub
