Uavionix Skybeacon Installation

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Uavionix Skybeacon Installation

For any of you that may be considering the Uavionix Skybeacon install, here is a video I made of the process. It's not as polished as I would have liked and was done on the fly, but hopefully this will be helpful.

Two things to note: if you are doing the FAA rebate, make sure that you use the URL from the rebate site to retrieve your PAPR and GAIRS reports and incentive code. There is another URL that will only give you the PAPR report. Second, if you leave the app while configuring it, it will drop your tail number and revert back to the default "VFR" setting. This will cause your validation flight to fail. Ask me how I know!

Overall, it was a very straight forward process. Now having done it, I figure I could probably do everything, including the test flight and receiving the validation reports, in under 2 hours.

Re: Uavionix Skybeacon Installation

FWIW uAvionix had a booth at the NW aviation show this weekend, and I talked to their people there.
The government shutdown gummed up the works on their original approval timeline.
Sounds to me like best case it'll be about 6 more weeks for approval,
so they might still hit their "by the end of Q1/2019" date, or at least come pretty close.
That's barring another shutdown or any other unforeseen hang-ups.
You can pre-order a Tailbeacon on their website right now, I did this a couple weeks ago.
I was told that their pre-order customers will take precedent once productions starts.....
but that some of the major retailers (Spruce etc) have also placed pre-orders.
