Ultimate bushplane on Barnstormers

A member here sent me a pic of this plane a while back. I see it's on Barnstormers now. 7 passengers, 600HP 540ci V-8, and Buckshot mudders how can you go wrong? What a monster. Hopefully someone with alot of money, time, and ingenuity will get it flying someday.

Anything that needs a ladder to climb into is alright in my book.

Re: Ultimate bushplane on Barnstormers

Wowser that is huge. Was this plane a one off design? After a quick look at that rearward pivoting landing gear I wonder how much that relocates the CG forward on touchdown as the gear moves back under impact and load. I am picturing a perpetual motion porpoising touchdown followed by a go around. I noticed that no wings are included. I assume they are not yet engineered or were the attach points made to match up to an existing wing from a Cessna or other plane? In either case the buyer of this plane probably will not be eligible for a repairman certificate as it appears more than 51% has been completed, especially if the wings are salvaged from another plane and installed on this one.

Should have a pic of somebody standing next to it for size comparison.

On Barnstormers it's under: Experimental-Bush Plane. This thing going to have an empty weight of 10k pounds?

You must have to single-point fuel it from the belly. :?

^^^LOL^^^

So......... Is this plane for real?? By the looks of the engine, it's going to need one heck of a huge prop. Interesting :-k

Re: Ultimate bushplane on Barnstormers

This thing belongs to a good friend of mine. No there are no wings. I tried to convince him to put on my Helio Courier H800 wings and to build out the fuselage area at the wing location with stubs 8'6" overall and attach the wings to those stubs to increase the overall wing span.
It is absolutely huge!! You have to stand beside it to appreciate how big it really is. Workmanship is very good. Structure is all tubing with thin fiberglass panels for skin.
I would love to have it but my wife keeps telling me no.
Also know the engine builder . He has an excellent reputation for building race engines, and is or was a pilot for the National Guard .

Hope Dick chimes in here to answer questions.

Re: Ultimate bushplane on Barnstormers

Well if a 300 hp 520 uses 17 GPS cruise and 25 on take off?
Should be around 34 cruise and 50 takeoff.
Just saying!
