Upper Mid-West Road Trip, Seeking Oshkosh Information??

I'm planning a two week vacation (road trip) in the upper Mid-West area this June. I'll be parking my rig in Ohio, pick up a rental car and jam westbound to Oshkosh for a couple of days. Then jump over to Winona, MN for about 4-5 days to visit some relatives I don't know yet. Then bounce back to South Bend, Indiana for the Red Bud Motocross race on Sat July 2. Then back to beautiful Mansfield, Ohio.

Mt question is........ Is two days plenty enough time to visit the Museum at Oshkosh? Any other interesting things to see at the airport at Oshkosh? And surrounding area?

Also, any aviation sights to check out in between northwest Ohio and Southwest Minnesota beside Oshkosh? Any cool airfields to visit? I've already been to the Air Force Museum in Dayton a half dozen times, so I don't need to go there.

Thanks!!

You can see the EAA Museum easily in a day, in my opinion. I don't know what else there is to see in OSH, since I've only been there during Airventure.

BUT, if you're going to be in Ohio--DO NOT pass up the opportunity to visit Dayton, and that WILL take two days to do it right. Go to the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB. Amazing place, and you could easily spend a day and a half or two days just there.

Then, there are the history museums, including the restored Wright Bros bicycle shop. But WAIT, there's more....the park area where the Wright Brothers museum is also has several other museums of industry and technology. Again, you could easily hose a full day there.

And, finally, go out to Huffman Prairie. Huffman Prairie is where the Wrights did all their flying after the first flight. It was at the end of the trolley line, and out of town to preserve their "privacy". It's been restored, and is much as it appeared in the early 1900's when the Wrights were flying there. It is actually part of Wright Patterson AFB, but is outside the fence, and administered by the NPS as a historical site.

Don't miss this stuff, or Dayton. I was there for two days and wished I'd had four.

You may want to check the dates for the Waco Fly-in at Wynkoop Airport in Mount Vernon. It is usually the weekend before July 4th, but check the dates to be sure. Mount Vernon is only a short drive down Route 13 from Mansfield or a 10 minute flight. Lots of nice airplanes.
Someone here should have the exact dates.
