USFS Beaver Pilot jobs
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
Applied! and I meet all the requirements for GS11 and most for GS12 (~140 hours PIC short). The listing looks different, it mentions ASEL or ASES for most of the questions. The seaplane time kept me off the cert the last few times this was posted.
Although, if this doesn't work out, I have a seat in a CRJ with Skywest starting in March.

Have they started interviewing for the GS-11 and 12 positions yet? How many positions are they hiring for? Thanks Henny

Just interviewed for a GS13 job with the USFWS but I'd much rather do this.

Sorry for the delay. Prohibited from discussing the hiring process until the evolution is complete. We offered the job to two applicants and both have accepted, so we should be fully manned with 3 pilots and 3 Beavers by mid-summer.

Our second hire from earlier this year didn't pass his background check, so we are only at two pilots right now. Thanks for spreading the word.

I’m actually surprised they only want 500hrs on floats, that’s pretty reasonable for government work.

Sign of the times. The minimum use to be 1000 hours on floats not too long ago, and half of that had to be in a "heavier" airplane (i.e. something more than a J-3...). Can't remember what the weight limit actually was...
