Vancouver to Yukon

Plan is to launch from Vancouver around August 23rd with a friend and go to Whitehorse via Anaheim, Smithers, Stewart, Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake, Atlin, Carcross. Several airstrips to check out along the way.

Pick up my wife and go to Dawson City, Old Crow, hopefully Sheep Creek camp in Ivvavik National Park and possibly airstrips north up to arctic ocean. Then to Inuvik, possibly over to Paulatuk and back down to Norman Wells,
Ross River, Whitehorse. Return via Liard Hotsprings, Scoop Lake, Ft Graham and whatever works to get home to Vancouver.
Any suggestions for stops up there please let me know.

Re: Vancouver to Yukon

I'd do faro instead of Ross river! Faro has credit card fuel and is a nice little town with a store resterant and a golf corse. The airport is a ways from town is the only downside. Ross river is a dump with no dependable fuel!

Fort Selkirk between WH and Dawson. Tombstone mountains, about 50 nm from the Dawson airport up the Dempster HWY. Airstrip and camping at Chapman Lake, about 65nm up the Dempster

Re: Vancouver to Yukon

I will be leaving from Ft Nelson to Carcross on the 22nd. By road this time unfortunately. We have a lot on the airport at Carcross. Feel free to pull in beside the yellow RV8 and set up a tent. Someone will be around for a visit. Send me a pm if you need more info. Sounds like a great trip.

Re: Vancouver to Yukon

Good plan Cam,
Procedure @ Nimpo (if yer float challenged) is to buzz the house & then land on the strip, Someone will (likely) be right up.
Will feed & "water" you but have no extra house beds. Old cabin or tent. :)

Re: Vancouver to Yukon

Guest cabin here in Atlin is likely unoccupied for those times. Need a heads up on arrival so I can meet you at the airport, or email me for flyby the house instructions.

Re: Vancouver to Yukon

thanks for all that, we'll see how far north the weather gods let us get (and get back).

Sheep Creek may be closed for season.

Ft Selkirk and Faro and Carcross added to list, will skip Ross River.
Would like to hike Tombstone but no car rental in Dawson so other than
hitching a ride back from Chapman can't see how to do that.

Thanks Greg & Logan - will be in touch.
