Vargas Island this Sunday

Vargas Island this Sunday! The tide is perfect and the weather is supposed to be great so Joan and i are going to roast some hotdogs and maybe do a little surf fishing at Vargas. We are planning on being there about noon and staying most of the day as high tide is not untill 10pm. As always there is an open invitation to join us. The more the merrier.

Looks like maybe 10 planes could show up, should be fun.

I use this https://www.tide-forecast.com/locations ... des/latest

and I then just select the location I want.
We also have the site listed on the BC General Aviation web site under resourses/ flight planning.

Here's a similar website for US tides.
Tide times & heights, sun rise & set, moon rise & set, % of moon.

Here's a couple before the fog burned off and it warmed up. T-shirts in the afternoon, but no blue bikini this year.

Re: Vargas Island this Sunday

Looked like fun but I'm curious: It looks like there is not much room above the high tide mark. If someone were to have an issue and couldn't depart before high tide, is there room to get the aircraft to safety?

Re: Vargas Island this Sunday

You can land and take off and camp at a 10' tide. Anything above that is getting tricky. You really need to pay attention to the tide tables.
