Video footage from my new "wing cam"

I've been enjoying my new-to-me 172 for the last couple of months; trying to expand my "local" area by flying to a different series of airports every weekend. A few weeks ago I installed a camera on the wing strut with a custom made aluminum clamp, but really wasn't happy with the perspective that it offered. It was too close to the cockpit and I really couldn't see much outside of the airplane. So, I found an aluminum gopro style base mount, and drilled/countersink a center hole in it. I used 3M adhesive tape, and utilized one of the inspection cover screws as an added measure of safety. I also bought an aluminum camera mount, and I bought a Contour Roam 3 camera (doesn't match my hero4's resolution or framerate, but for youtube videos the GoPro's capabilities are largely unused. And, the contour's battery allows for a little over 3 hours of continuous recording; much better than any of my GoPro cameras).
Last weekend some friends of mine asked if I could fly them from Hillsboro to the coast and back, so I ran the cameras and voice recorder for the trip. Got some pretty good footage; thought you guys might enjoy it:

Sweet. How lucky are we to fly around in little aeroplanes:)

I enjoyed that. Your friend in the right seat acted just like I did about 35 years ago. It was before I ever thought about learning to fly. A friend invited me to ride along with him to go pick up a new to him 172.

My only other airplane ride of any kind before that was a short hop in the back seat of a 180. After we leveled off he did just like you did and showed me what the controls did then told me to take the controls. I was hesitant but he coaxed me. That's when I decided to start taking flying lessons.
