"View New Topics" Link Logs Me Out

Even though I check "Log me on automatically each visit" when I log in, if I leave the site for a short time, it requires me to log in again. If, I click the "View New Topics" link after logging in, it logs me out as the page loads. If I stay in the forum index page and wander through the various forums I remain logged in. Only third party cookies are not accepted, but I never get alerts of primary cookies being sent anyway.

Any idea what could cause this? Are others having the same problem?

I had that problem only 2 or 3 times the whole time I've been on BCP (member since 2007, I think). But for the last year or so, it's been fine.

It shouldn't be the cookies. When you click the "Delete all board cookies" link at the bottom of the Board Index page, it should remove them so you start with a clean slate.

On the other hand, if the board is placing third party cookies on members' computers, that link would not be able to remove them, and the members would have no idea what they are, what they do and whether they are the cause of problems. Third party cookies are insidious. The sites that add them can't control them once they are on your computer. It is always wise to set browser options to reject third party cookies. Two years ago I threatened to cancel my Wall Street Journal subscription because WSJ required subscribers accept them. Last year they quit using them as most responsible site have.
