Just like the old sang...... "the worst day fishing is better than a good day at work!!" (or something like that)

It's actually pretty much stopped snowing now--the wind is now rearranging the ten inches or so we received since 10 last night.

Three degrees this morning in Pateros. Heading out on the Columbia steelhead fishing .(Buddy got a new boat he wants to try) In the summer i take the ice chest to keep the fish cool. Today i guess i'll take the ice chest so the fish wont be froze solid.

MTV, I heard about the weather down south, very odd for this time of the year. You got 2 more inches of snow than we did, ( I'm 300 miles N/E of you), with all the bush, drifting is not really an issue, like on the prairie. I went ice fishing for lake trout yesterday (Jan 1) and the radio said the wind chill was -30 C (-22F). We lit a fire by a sheltered rock face and it was not too bad. Only ended up with 4 lake trout between four of us, but as others said...... Steve

-9 F reported at Grand Canyon National Park at 5:30 this morning. My girlfriend is on a 21 day rafting trip down the Colorado, which I was unable to accompany her on. I have not been able to communicate with her, and am imagining all of the bad things that could happen after days on the river in sub-zero temperatures. I am seriously considering an airspace violation in Northern Arizona.

By all means, go buzz the river. But in my experience it's a lot warmer down in the canyon then on this rim this time of year. Hope she has a great trip!
