Well, I did it... (1960 182C)

We have a really nice 175 and I've had a hard time trying to decide between overhaul, upgrade to a 180hp, or trade up to a 182. 182 wins! Flew our "brand new" 182C home to roost in Texas from Florida a week ago. So now the questions begin, in fact I'm about to post one under engines & props right now.
It's airworthy and flyable with recent extensive annual, but got lots up upgrades and mods planned for it over time as budget allows... sort of a flying restoration project. Hopefully within a few years it will be my dream bird with Pponk, MT, G5's, Airglas, Sportsman, BAS harnesses, extended baggage, snazzy paint job etc. I'd post a pic, but I don't know how (at least from an iPad... I'll figure it out) plus it's ugly anyway, lol. But already loving the difference getting out of my back yard strip!

Awesome! You'll love it.

I'm looking forward to photos as you complete the transformation. Don't forget wing-ex and a Sportsman STOL kit. Took me a while to figure out pictures but it isn't that hard. Zane has a sticky on it somewhere.

Congrats! I know exactly where you're headed with the "flying project, upgrade everything" path. It's a lot of fun but not for the faint of heart. I've done everything you're considering (and more), ping me with your questions and check out my other thread on 182 modernization, since I covered the (still ongoing) journey there.

Congrats! But it's mandatory to post a pic of the new bird please.

Ok fine... here you go. This is it in all its glory! It may be old & dirty, but at least it's ugly, lol. Im hoping it's good good bones, seems to be a good straight low time airframe and pretty good shape mechanically, And a clean slate to make it exactly what I want ... eventually.

For now, I'm spending all my extra money on lottery tickets, and when I hit, I'll start the restoration / transformation process. Actually I spend all my extra money on av gas... some things never change.
