Re: West Fork Lodge MT

I flew over West Fork Lodge Saturday morning. The airstrip looked great from 9,000 and I am certain Tex is still serving breakfast. This is a great place!!

West Fork is a nice place to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Tex and his wife are really into what they do. It's even a nice place to spend a couple of days. Highly recommended!

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Stopped in for breakfast after JC this year, It's a nice place. One of the only grass runways I know of with 100LL.

Decent price on 100LL too. We are planning on staying there and flying in to some of Idaho's BC strips. I would be camping, but my passenger prefers other arrangements.

The WFL is a nice lodge, with a lot to do in the area (MacGruder Corridor, fishing, rafting, hiking, etc).

The strip is great, fuel is available, and the food is great. Breakfast can get busy- you never know the flyers who you will have breakfast with: locals, movie stars, hedge fund managers, musicians, etc.

Re: West Fork Lodge MT

Looks like the West Fork Lodge may be under new ownership. Does anyone here have any more info?

It’s been a great place to stop, eat, stay or get fuel for some time. Hope they plan to continue serving aviation.

I'll ask around and see what I can find out...didn't realize it sold. The previous owner didn't seem to understand that the lodge doesn't own the airstrip (ownership is split between the lodge and several private residences), and there was a lot of friction there. I passed on buying a very nice piece of land that included the east part of the field (and two hangars) because the airstrip politics were such a charlie-foxtrot.

Given how many people own part of the airstrip and the HUGE-money landowners that surround it, I'm amazed it exists at all.

It would be a super sweet spot to reside - a stones throw from Shearer and Moose Creek.

Airpark living is a lovely idea, but sharing real estate with other pilots seems like a questionable deal unless you already know everyone well.

I met Tex at the gas pump in Marina and he indicated he had just sold the lodge. Real nice guy and I loved checking out his 182. I think he's had it for 30 years.
