Western Skyways was my employer's choice of shops for its fleet of 207s. We would send them an engine roughly every three months, and the rebuilds we received always looked really nice. I don't recall the mechanics ever mentioning an issue with one of their rebuilds, and our pilot who broke in new engines never mentioned a problem either.

I know that you can hear all sorts of things good or bad. I ordered one yesterday for my 182h.compression have been going down and oil consumption is increasing by the hour.

Put in 2000 hrs on Skyways engines in company 206s in the last 5 years. We do lots of short trips: 20-30 minutes, and usually climb to 3500 or 5000', Our engines make TBO consistently with little fuss, maybe a new jug here or there. I like the engines. Most of the problems I have experienced has been from mufflers crapping out and getting blocked. I suspect we'll see another AD on those in the future.

Have a Western Skyways IO-520 to IO-550 conversion in my V35B. It's been great so far. About 150 hours on her and she uses very little oil. Flew to Florida and back and only put 1 quart in just because I felt like I should. Performance is also very good. 174 knots on a little over 13 GPH, so I'm happy. Wish it ran a little smoother, but I'm planning on switching to Tempest plugs on the next annual. Hopefully that'll smooth her out! What sold me on Western Skyways was that they dynamically balance the crankshaft and rotating parts on their rebuilds.
