Flying around today I came across these things on top of some fairly remote peaks about 40 miles south of Bozeman. They are about 60 feet wide. Not really facing anything.... Some sort of repeater I assume? I found three of them.

I could be a smartass and say they are movie screens for bighorn sheep...
But.... They are reflectors used as repeaters for communications.. There are several spread around Wyoming too.

STOL is right. These are called Passive Repeaters as they have no electronics that recieve and then retransmit a signal. Usually found on a high hill or ridge that bounce a radio or microwave signal down into a valley where the signal cannot get to in relation to the transmitter. These panels are quite common to bounce a TV signal down into a town that might not otherwise get a TV station because of the town's location.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.
Just be sure to wear your aluminum foil hat in the vicinity.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
Ahh okay, I figured they were something like that. Must be quite a project setting them up, I imagine they get quite a beating from the wind too.
Thanks
