If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Are there multiple volumes or are they consolidated into revisions?

Thanks,

Both books are single volumes. Sparky has just revised his. Check his website at www.mountainflying.com. F.E. Potts website is www.fepco.com.
Both sites have lots of information plus a large portion of each book actually on the site.

I also recommend Sparky Imesons books, especially the Mountain Flying Bible, when learning about mountain flying and Galen HanselMan's books to learn about the cool places you probably want to visit.

I talked to Galen earlier today and he should have Fly Utah! in stock by the end of next week! That means you only have a week left to get in on the pre-publication offer. Galen has extended the pre-publication offer (a FREE GH-UT chart with a Fly Utah! book order), until the day the books arrive. This chart, which normally sells for $19.95, is a WAC scale chart that features all of the airstrips listed in the book. I have seen the Chart and it looks awesome. It is a durable laminated WAC scale chart and has information about the airstrips on the back.

For those that don't already know: FLY UTAH! is a compact flight guide that contains 950 pages of photos and information on 83 of Utah's airstrips including 75 back country airstrips! Each airstrip has information on flying there including photos and runway diagrams with elevation profiles. You will also find hundreds of pages of information on the history of the airstrips and what to do in the area once you are on the ground. The book costs $59.95 and can be ordered on Galen's website http://www.flyidaho.com.

It is already starting to get a little cooler in Utah and we aren't having any significant fire problems at the moment so I hope to meet lots of you in the back country soon.

Not to hijack the thread, but thanks for the update Rob. I was wondering what the latest was. Last I heard Galen hoped to have some shipped earlier for those of us that pre-ordered, but it sounded like the Chinese weren't playing nice. I'll be anxiously awaiting it...and hoping that the fires stay away.

Oh, and back on point, I also would strongly recommend Galen's books as well as Sparky's. The "Mountain Flying Bible" is an excellent reference manual that I recommend to all people that I do FR with, whether or not they plan on doing back country flying or not. It is an excellent "refresher" for coving those subjects that maybe you didn't quite grasp in your earlier ground schools or things you've just simply forgot. I know I had quite a few of those "light bulb on" moments while reading it. Lots of good rules of thumb too.

I ordered them off Mountainflying.com and the e-mail got bounced due to being over quota. I hope they got my order.

Any inside scoop?

Hi Ddivina,

I just talked to Sparky on the phone and mentioned your post. He was not in the office so he could not confirm whether or not he had received an order from Red Oaks, TX. I will forward a link to this message to him so he can investigate.
