I was just looking at some surplus items and this popped up.
What would you bid, I plan on looking at it this weekend

1965 Super Cub Piper PA-18-150 18-8346 N4165Z ************************************************************************************************** Craft inspected in accordance with FAR 43 appdx D. Craft is not Airworthy. Following is a list of unairworthy items: Metal particles in the engine oil suction screen and oil pressure screen Aileron hinge bushings need replacing Aileron clevice control hardware corroded Elevator hinge bushings need replacing Cowl brace longerons worn and cracked Cowl metal in need of repair or replacement Misc cowling hardware in need of replacement KX125 nav/com radio removed(wt/bal not current) Small areas of Fabric abrasions and tears which need repair Shock cords due replacement These are known defects, this may not be a complete list

That's all pretty much stuff you can find on half the Super Cubs on the planet, except the metal in the oil. That means an engine, and probably a cam and followers. That's big dollars right there.

The $100,000 question is what is the fuselage tubing like? If the frame is junk due to rust, everything else is just parts. And parts aren't worth much.

Corrosion in the airframe tubing is a big problem, and hard to inspect for. I'd get a VERY competent Cub mechanic to go look at it with you.
