I don't think Canada wants people like him in jail for long. But I'll bet they want a lot of money and he will no longer be able to fly in Canada.

I'm sure because he had a criminal record, is why he didn't reroute to Victoria to refuel. I wonder what it was? Right now I feel kinda sorry for the guy.
