What to do this weekend?

So our plans for this weekend fell through, and now we're in the need of somewhere cool to go that has something cool to do. I would like to make an episode out of it if we can figure it out on short notice. Here's the unfortunate stipulations:

We have to be back Sunday mid-morning, Chuck has an important meeting with the canine actors guild at 11:00am :^o
We can't leave any earlier than Friday morning
I really don't want to go somewhere that's going to be hotter than home, it's supposed to be 100° here on Saturday.

Because of those two conditions, probably something close-ish to home (Spanish Fork, UT) is best. Maybe a max of 2-3 hours of Cessna 170 flight time. Anything to do in Colorado, Wyoming, etc?

Thanks in advance!

Great opportunity to shoot B roll footage. Maybe do a segment on the proper care and cleaning of a 170? How to make the perfect margarita?

Cleaning? Do people do that with their airplanes? That's not a bad idea, actually. It does need some good cleaning, and we can always use more B roll...

Also maybe "airplane camping" stuff... go over the gear you use, weights, cost, etc. Tent, stove, chairs, food, etc. Just an idea.

Go to KTEX and take a Jeep Tour over Imogene / black bear pass, ride the gondola, check out Bridal Veil Falls, camp at Alta Lakes.

What a weekend that would be!

Re: What to do this weekend?

You could take a very short hop over to Fairfield to talk with Mark at Rocky Mountain Kitplanes and do a segment on aircraft construction. You could tie it into a show about Oshkosh. (another potential show)
He has several planes in various stages of construction. Some good informational fluff about how planes work...etc.
And you can have the added fun of "demoing" his turbo S-7.

Piggie-backing onto the other ideas, you could make the show about how GA gives you options to make/change plans on short notice that otherwise would be a PITA. So acknowledge that the plans fell through, talk about finding other things, clean the plane, clean Chuck, do two or three quickie trips in the area running errands and getting things ready for the next adventure. Could work.

I think you ought to consider La Garita - I'll bet if you reached out to the ranch manager they would love to have you. Fishing, Biking, Hiking - Everything you need in an episode. Also, they just removed the TFR, you would get a first hand view of the fire that was down in that area; would make for some dramatic footage.
