Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

My Son is home on leave from his Navy training base in Charleston SC. so today I took him up for the first time since I got my PPL. We started at Bentonville AR and made a big loop first going east to Carroll Co then to Joplin MO for BBQ lunch. Then on to Miami OK, Grove OK, Crystal Lake AR, Cherokee Strip AK (PVT), Siloam Springs AR, and back to Bentonville AR.

The high-light was a chance meeting with Jim and Matt Younkin, both from our local EAA chapter.

Jim's latest project is installing his Tru-Track autopilot system in an AN-2. Go figure!

Anyway, we got there as they were finishing up fueling and fixing to go around the patch a couple of times before going back to Springdale.

At that point I did what any good Dad would do..... I talked them into taking my son along!

15 minutes later my beaming 19 year old stepped out of a still running 1000 h.p. radial powered cabin biplane.

They went on to Springdale and we made our way back to Bentonville.

.........Life is good!

The old man himself........ and our ride dwarfed in the AN-2's shadow

Re: Where did you fly today?

We went flying today and landed on a gravel bar about a half an hour away from here. When we were getting ready to leave I tried pulling the starter and it broke and came all the way out of the panel! I'm glad I wasn't by myself, Stacey was inside on the controls and I was able to prop start it and we flew it home.

Watch out for the warden related to that bar especially in summer.

Re: Where did you fly today?

After the fog lifted I had a pretty good day of local flying...would have been fun to make it up to the West circuit with RobW56 and AvidFlyer today, but I made the best of it....

Re: Where did you fly today?

It's certainly not anywhere near as cool or exciting as many of the trips shown in this thread, but I took my wife on my very first flight with my PPL. I got to fly around Philomath, Corvallis, and Mary's Peak

Actually I'd say that's one of the coolest flights that any of us ever get to take. I can remember mine very clearly. Congratulations!
