Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Jered:

Thanks for posting the pictures of you and your son. Brings back memories of my kids when they were young.

I guarantee, you will be surprised how they trot out those memories in the future. My kids can bring back camping trips that we took together from 10 or 15 years ago and list out details that I have long since forgotten. The other thing you will probably find is that you become the magnet for overnight stays and "airplane rides" for the other kids. I found that having the plane was great because the kids always wanted to stay at our place, which gave me a chance to get to know the kids and who my sons were hanging around with. Have several kids who are still airplane bugs as a result of stays at our house.

GA is struggling and you and others like you passing along your passion can only help us bring young ones into the fold.

Keep up the good work!! Larry

Re: Where did you fly today?

Hi. I am a new member here and I am sure enjoying all this good stuff. I fly a '46 Cessna 140 but grew up riding around with dad in 182's, 180's and the like. I thought I'd add to the collection and share a few fun pics of our past flying advendures. Enjoy!

Amazing Co-pilot. My kids love flying. Now I see why my dad always lugged us around with him on his trips when we were small.

Re: Where did you fly today?

While I don't have kids of my own, or maybe because of that, these pics of people flying wih their kids always make me smile. I know a few pilots whose kids seldom if ever share their airplane adventures with them-- generally the wives aren't into it either, which leads me to believe that may be a factor. Too bad, IMHO there's a lot of quality time with Dad being missed out on, as per the "amazing co-pilot" photo in this thread-- lotsa happy memories being made there! Keep up the good work.

Re: Where did you fly today?

On Saturday the perpetual shroud of fog finally lifted from Scappoose.

I met up with Kelly and hit a few strips in the area between Chehalis and Olympia. Not shown are Sabin (I forgot to turn on the camera) and LZ (the camera filled up).

Enjoyed your video, Groundlooper. That Kimbrell strip isn't the one I'm familiar with (near Rochester, 1900' long). A different (but related) Kimbrel maybe?

Yep, it's his son's place, a bit north and east of the other Kimbrel. Stats: 1200' or so with a runout area into the trees just in case. Slopes uphill to the South. No go around once committed. It's kind of rough and slopes a bit to the East as well.

He's planning on plowing and grading it in the next month or so.

courierguy you are being watch from above

Hi Tom, here are some pictures flying-by your place this morning, heading south bound for SLC. All looks peaceful down there at your place! I wanted to see if you are interested in doing some flying down in S.E. UT maybe some time in the last half of March or in April some time with Greg, "Mauleguy" and maybe some other BCP's! We still have to figure out the details of everything.

I just wanted to get my handle on page 200 of the thread. This has to be the longest running thread in history. It's the one they come so far to see. Great photos.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I flew from home base KOLM to Vaughn Ranch, home of Tim's Aircraft...a short 15 minute hop each way. Vaughn Ranch is a grass strip nestled in the trees near Port Orchard and Vashon Island. Puget Sound was in it's glory. It was such a clear sunny day in NW Washington there were great vistas of Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, and Mt St Helens, Mt. Baker and Mt Hood, in the Cascades. Over on the peninsula the Olympics were showing nicely, too. I was having too much looking around to take any photos...sorry. Looking forward to more nice days for flying. 200!

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Buzzed the Blackrock, and then into Soldier Meadows, NV yesterday.

New owners, new foreman and his family. Nice place, and very airplane friendly. Working on a mini fly-in sometime in April.

We need to meet up. My plane spent most of its life in KOTZ, you'll be like old homies. I feel it wanting to get back up there. Pulls to the North.
