Had a spectacular time following AKTahoe around the North Circuit today - Stampede, Chilkoot, Frenchman, Little Blue Shoe, Dead Cow, Chance's Place. Too bad we had to cut it a little short. Fun Times! Let's do it again soon!

Flew to W22 (Buckhannon, WV) to check on my house down there. I'm working back in my hometown of Marietta, OH in the Utica Shale play here. Hitched a ride on an S7. Trying to get my house sold in Buckahnnon.

This is the compressor site that got me into the Gas and Oil biz. I used to be a forester for a large sawmill in Buckhannon, and I had purchased the timber for this site before it was built. I guess it pays to know people......

Spent all weekend with a friend at his fly-in cabin. Helped with some chores, ate great food, drank some good scotch, shot my new guns, and best of all he's a CFI I got some dual float time on the way there and back with a bunch of landings / take offs at a lake en route home!

Down to San Carlos this evening for meetings tomorrow.

I took my first non-pilot passenger last weekend. Here's a little video I made (my camera moved on me and turned to the left so I only got the back of my head). I just ordered a Gopro Hero 3 Black so maybe my video's will be better with a second camera angle.

We had a blast though!



Anyone in the Ozarks area (Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas), let me know if you have any good landing sites that would make a good camping place. I have been wanting to do some camping but I dont know of any place suitable in my area. I dont have the big bush tires so I have to settle with your standard flat surface. I am hoping to go to Gaston's on the 24th for a fly-out but that will not include camping. FYI I created a group called Ozark Pilots so anyone from this area please join and once there's a few more members, we can do some stuff!

Gonna fly her from CO down to TX on Monday/Tuesday.

My Dad already came up with a name that has a great story behind it..."Stampede"

It's Stacey's birthday today so after dinner we went for a quick flight. The sunset was awesome, this Iphone pic doesn't do it justice though.

Not today but Friday I went back out to my friend's cabin to help put his old 4-wheeler back together and some other chores. In return I got some more dual time in his 185 on floats. Stopped by big Minto Lake on the way home and did a few landings/take-offs there again. This time on short final he did his usual reach to the controls to guide the last few feet down to the water (I would too, with a helo pilot in the left seat and an expensive airplane!), stopped halfway to the yoke, crossed his arms and said, "you got this."

I then did 3 of the best float landings I've ever done (different passes, not bounces hahaha) and we shot back home with his arms crossed all the way until we went to pull up to the dock. All told I now have 20 landings in that bird, so "best landings I've ever done" still need some work, but they were smooth and controlled!

It was way cool to finally tie the last 3-5 feet together with the rest of the flight to the point that he was comfortable with it too. I haven't felt this good about flying since I found my "hover button" almost 8 years ago!

Seaside (56S). Had pizza and beer. I was heading to nehalem to camp for the night when the weather closed in. I decided better to land than be wishing I was eating pizza with beer.

Just as well. My lady is competing in the portland to coast relay and I'm in the right place to meet her tomorrow when she arrives on foot. I picked the better way to travel!

GA should help 2 competitors avoid the crowds of cars on the return trip if it's not too drizzley. They have options for the return just in case. I have a tent and piece of grass.

abandoned houses always intrigue me... now that looks like it would be a nice place.. always wonder about the history of them.. why were they abandoned , who owned them etc...

Our late summer / fall fly-in season is upon us.
Several of us headed to an awesome private strip high up on the side of Grand Mesa.
It took Bob over 2 years of hard work to wrestle this gem from the trees and the rocks.
The pitch pretty much makes it an uphill only landing but the gusty up-slope winds can add some pucker factor.
Got to love the carrier style take-offs though.

Boulder, CO to Gunnison, CO via Kenosha and Monarch passes for the 24 Hours in the Sage mountain bike race. I rode 65 miles (5 laps) in 24 hours - then I think I slept for 15 hours.

Strangest thing... altimeter was pegged at 13,999 while I was riding that 35kt tailwind at 105mph over Monarch. I"m sure one could get a lot higher riding that wave - if they had Oxygen on board.
