Where in the TCDS does it shows the nose fork option??

Where in the TCDS does it shows the nose fork option??

Looked through all of TCDS # 3A13 and cant seem to find anything. Anyone know?

If you can't find it you can always look at your planes equipment list. It will show what came on your plane and what options were available including the weights and part numbers. If you don't have one, you can order one from Cessna.

There is no nose fork option on a 182B. I do know that it was an option on some later 182's. Don't know wich.

Hope that works, click on the pdf logo. I skimmed through it and did not see a fork option, could be it is only via an STC.

The TCDS is available freely on the internet, search Google for "TCDS" "Cessna 182" and you should find it.

I doubt that the nose fork is listed on the data sheet, any more than the flap skin or the control yoke would be. The identification of the nose fork would be somewhere in the original production certificate data, which is probably locked in a vault 500 feet below Wichita and not for public viewing.

Approved Optional equiptment parts can be found in the IPC. The IPC is approved data for alterations.

The newer type Certificates aren't detailed like the older ones were so you probably won't find it there. Get the equipment list for Your Plane. It will have everything approved on your plane from interior lights to skis and floats. If you have a 182B, take Tim's advice, you'll need a field approval. I've already chased this dog and it always goes the same place, the FAA #-o . Good Luck!

You will not find any type of tire options in the TCDS for your aircraft. FYI, You can find all TCDS on the FAA website.

If you download the IPC for your airplane, from the link provided above by Zane, you will find the nose fork options. Figure #33A on page 104 (and 35A page 112) outlines the heavy duty nose gear installation option for your airplane. This is verified by the S/N reference on the figure page.

To go with this configuration will not require a field approval only money, cha-ching....

McCurtain Technology has many IPC's and Service Manuals on CD for about $20 each.

Compare their prices to Cessna, and I bet you get your credit card out. I usually just print out the pages I need when working on the plane or trying to locate parts. Soooo much easier than using the paper book, and no more oil prints on the pages.

A parts manual for your plane would also have all the info. If it was an option, it will be in the parts manual.

You can PROBABLY find it somewhere here. Sorry, I'm too lazy to look it up again. I just went through this a couple of months ago for my '74 182P. They stopped offering the option a couple of years before mine was built. IIRC, it was about when they went to the new "Camber" wing. I didn't bother researching what year they started.

I researched this extensively several years ago for my '56 182 and found there was no HD nose fork option offered for the early 182's. The practical options were to either cobble together a C206 nose fork and the various associated parts and pieces or bite the bullet and buy the Landes/Airglas nose fork with the STC. I chose the latter.

I cobbled with a 310 fork on my 182B. Very easy process 2 1/2 years ago. Stock strut tube, saw a 310 fork on Barnstormers and bought it, found the other parts on line and bought a wheel from a BCP poster that saw my project described on this site.

Did a from scratch field approval, not a follow on (or a copy of a prefviously approved). I think my mechanic has built up a lot of trust with the Feds.
