Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

So, why are all of the Ohio Bush Planes videos down? Greg and John, are you still out there filming and having fun? If so, how come no more sharing?

I think they are discoraged because some people on this site dont get psyical comedy. I for one wish they would start posting there great videos again.

Me too. We want more episodes of "Remote Gesha Services"!

I have most of the vids on my hard drive and watch once in a while.

Me three!! It's too bad that some others take life too serious and don't get some of the humor involved with some of the video's.

Re: Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

It may be partly my fault, for which I sincerely apologized to him directly and tried to post it here. My full explanation for this is as follows; those not interested in the lengthy details need not read any further...

Greg and I had gotten into it just a little on this forum (over something that was not a truly big deal). I'm hard pressed to remember the details, I think I told him that one of the stunts he did on camera was kind of stupid and could have gotten him hurt. Same as any old gray airport bum would have said to a young pilot not taking things seriously enough.

So like just about everyone else on BCP, I said whatever was on my mind. If memory serves, he was quite the aggressor... that is, until he ran into someone who doesn't cut and run from a good verbal brawl.

Like a LOT of folks here on BCP, you can love me or hate me at your leisure. Poke at me all you want, and I'll poke right back. There are folks here on this forum that you would NOT want to get into a gunfight with. Perhaps there are people who you shouldn't want to get into a written word fight with either. (For anyone who knows me offline, Greg's pointed question of whether I've ever hung out with anyone who was funny... is the most hilarious comment ever made in the history of mankind :) )

Apparently when Greg poked, he wasn't expecting me to poke back. When I poked back (instead of scurry away in fear), it seems he got far more offended and hurt than anyone had anticipated. I recall that in the discussion in question, Greg stated that he was going to leave BCP because of it.

Rather than beat my chest and spray testosterone in the air, I posted a sincere and conciliatory message asking him to not leave, apologizing with kid gloves for offending him and to not take my poking back as a personal attack. Of note, he said he "wasn't one to apologize..." but I did anyway.

However, while I was physically writing that post, the owner of the website made the decision to lock the thread, in order to prevent any feathers from getting too ruffled. Although that decision was valid and wise in the big picture, it prevented my conciliatory message from being posted.

So I tried to send that message directly to Greg via PM, in the hopes that it would reach him. The PM system did not allow it to be sent, and it sits in my "outbox" to this day... here is the message :

He locked the thread just before I tried to post this. Do NOT leave BCP over this, that would be chicken shit. Stick around please.

Swingle wrote: I'm not one to apologize so instead I'll just be clearer. EZflap. The entire message was NOT for you. It was for the general public and half of it was a freaking comedy routine--have you ever hung out with a funny person before? They are sometimes harsh aren't they?

Well, it sounded to me like you were addressing me. If you weren't going after me personally, and I didn't get it, I'll apologize for making the wrong assumption. If you're "not one to apologize" that's OK. I'm not one to run away from a good word brawl as you may have seen.

Since you asked, yes I may just possibly have hung out with a funny person or two in my life. I was born and raised around the entertainment industry, at the very highest levels of what is now called the "old school" classic comedians. It's got zero to do with aviation, so it's not appropriate to discuss in detail in a place like BCP. (The morbidly curious can click here: http://grantstar.net/index.php/who-is-this-guy.html)

Yeah... you're right, they're sometimes kinda harsh. Guess that's where my ability to dish it back out comes from. Again, you have a sincere apology from me if you had not aimed that charming comedy routine at me personally.

'far as I'm concerned this is done. Anyone else wants to go for a few rounds in another thread, just say the word

Re: Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

EZFlap, assuming that stuff like that indeed causes a person to leave a forum - why should he also delete all of his videos at Vimeo?
Hard to believe that he did this just because of your (possibly harsh) criticism.

Maybe he received some other negative feedback, got in trouble because of copy right issues or because some of the persons in the videos didn't want to find themselves in the Internet!? I saw exactly this happen a couple of times with other videos.
You shouldn't bother yourself too much with thinking that this is your fault. :)

Btw.: I also liked his videos.

Cheers,

Oliver

EZFlap - No offense, but you suck at apologies. :-P Cool product by the way...one of these days.

Hey Swindle, let's see that awesome S-7 splat some more Ohio cow poop! The first set of videos were awesome. You've got a quirky but genuine artistic touch. Kind of like Tarantino without the psycho. =D>

Re: Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

Rumor has it that they were taken down in the aftermath of the guy who crashed his plane into the IRS building. The concern is that there are folks who don't have much of a sense of humor about little airplanes these days and some of them work for the Government. Best to keep a low profile.

Re: Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

I noticed more than a few videos pulled by those posting them following the Austin plane crash. Coincidental maybe, but there were also tax related comments pulled by those who posted them. Precautionary probably, but between public fears pressuring the FAA and the IRS rechecking their hate mail it would not be hard to imagine one tool used by both agencies would be to drag out the cyber net and see what comes up under the combined categories of pilots gone wild + mentally unstable taxpayers. I don't mean to take anything away from EZ Flap's verbal prowess but maybe there's more to it. Maybe the pulled videos are about playing it safe for a while since some objections were found even on this site.

Re: Where is Ohio Bush Planes?

Swingle will get over it, what ever it was, nothing wrong with keeping a low profile from time to time for WHATEVER reason (and I can think of several). I'm way more interested/stunned and impressed: Uncle Miltie?? No kidding???? Man that is funny, the crack about you not being around funny people before.....made your point there EZ! :D

I haven't been able to find the Highlander "Dead Stick Landing" vid anymore, either. Has the Backcountry "No Fun" police been out harrassing people?

Maybe Swindle wised up and realized he could be makin big bucks like the "Big Rocks, Long Props" guys by selling CD's to all us rich pilots.
