I'm in contract - going on 4 months working on this transaction.. squawks from pre-buy are done, all that is left is the final check flight. Just waiting for weather.

Re: Where's all the C180 shoppers?

I'm shopping, but trying to do the straight cash thing. If what I'm looking for shows up in the mean time I'd consider talking with my credit union. Debt sucks.

Re: Where's all the C180 shoppers?

I glad you guys bought and are enjoying your planes whether it be a Maule or a ST C182.

Good on ya Trade Craft for saving up for a cash deal. I saw a flyer in small town nowhere USA and if I can get a hold of the guy and confirm the plane is still for sale I'll pass the lead on to you...but it's a long ways from AK. I couldn't find the plane listed online and no sale has been reported to the FAA registry.

I found the first 1960 prototype 180 (WITH FLOATS, WHEELS AND SKIS) and now have the MOREBETTERDISEASE fever!!! Tried Motrin but I think a bit of carbon fiber and new tires will work better!!

Re: Where's all the C180 shoppers?

I purchased when I hit that point where a plane that fit my needs and my available cash. I initially wanted a float kit plane, but after talking with a few people and REALLY evaluating the type of flying I would do, it made sense to open up my criteria to non-float kit 180's, then I found the one I purchased!

I have over 40 hours in it in 2 months. Hopefully heading out on my first long x-country on Friday!

I'm trying not to go off the deep end and just stick to flying the heck out of it for a while. Couple must have's (for me) that I need to take care of right away, extended baggage - the Airglas carbon fiber, which means I also have to move the battery, Atlee Dodge firewall mounted battery. The key will be when I do the extended baggage - I don't get a bug up my rear and start with the "well while I have this out and I'm here - I might as well do X".

Mods are a slippery slope to start down....
your wallet starts itching and pretty soon the "nice to haves" sorta start blurring into "have to haves".

Lol... it happens quickly doesn't it. I want to do the airglas ext baggage, but the battery move seems like a big job. I have the Dodge battery box and the battery, but can't get myself to buy the airglas piece. I added a few things already, and don't want the plane down anymore when the weather finally cooperates...

Re: Where's all the C180 shoppers?

Somehow I got by for 11 years without an extended baggage in my old C170.
With the rear seat out, I never had any problem loading everything I wanted to take for 2 people and several days camping.
My 180 has a huge (flat-bottom) extended baggage, installed by a previous owner,
but (unlike that previous owner) I've never filled it up.
But it is handy if I want to just sleep in the airplane instead of messing with a tent--
I don't even have to remove the front seats!
