Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

Its time for me to do my first oil change since I've owned the 170. Does anyone know a place where I can buy aviation oil by the case? I'm looking for Phillips 66 X/C 20W-50.

I wouldn't get too picky on the oil. The last owner of that plane just went down to the local jiffy lube and took the used oil and put it in that plane. :^o :^o :^o [-X ...

Jus kiddin...... Try Sams club... I have seen aviation oil in those stores at darn good prices.

Dooley oil in Cheyenne carries some just give them a call. Otherwise fly on down to GXY and get it from Ken Harris at Harris aviation his gas is cheap as well. Good luck with Sky Harbor one case will wipe them out.

I saw your plane on the ramp when I was there Saturday, looks nice.

Slafter Oil in Scottsbluff (AKA WESCO)..been buying all of my oil there for about 40 years..best price/ case/gallon that I know of. They have it in quarts and gallons..I myself use Phillips XC 20-50.

PS: call them, they might deliver to Cheyenne. 800-658-3261
Scholl in Holyoke.....$51.00/ case of 12 quarts
Slafter Oil..... 43.66/case of 12 quarts, $51.00 for 4 gallons in a case or $14.26/Gal
Dooley oil in Cheyenne....47.88/case

Re: Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

Flight:
Were checking the local SAM's for the aeroshell oil -- Around Las Vegas --so far no Joy . I can get Aeroshell 50/100 in Los Angeles for 550 bucks a 55 gallon drum.Easiest way to get and ship is 4 gallon case about $55.00 a case in L.A. -- When I go down next month I'll get 5 cases of gallons. When changing oil in my 0-470 I use 2 gallons and add 1 qt. of Aeroshell and one qt. of MM oil. 55 gallon will come in back of truck after 1st. of year. Local Phillips 20/50 is 43 bucks if you go pick it up at Rebel oil.

I can never find aviation oil locally. I always buy it online from Spruce or one of the others. Do you need large quantities (ie drum)? If not then order the oil, filters, hardware etc. and have it all delivered before the next opil change.

I get my oil here: http://www.unitedoil.net/

It's not anywhere near WY/CO, but maybe if you check any of your local oil supply companys.

Re: Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

I buy my Phillips XC2050 from the local "bulk plant", which also sells every other kind of oil known to man as well as gasoline, diesel, & fuel oil. Last case I bought cost me about $50 with tax, and free delivery to my house. No doubt cheaper to buy by gallons, as stol driver sez, but for me dealing with quarts is a lot easier than gallon jugs.

Re: Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

I took the advice from 670X and bought a case from Dooley Oil here in town, it cost me $50.75 after tax, not bad. Now I just need to find somewhere to change my oil myself.... idk if they will let me do it on the ramp at KCYS or not.

Re: Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

Rob, glad you were able to obtain locally. That's a good price: I just bought two gallons plus a case of quarts from the "new" regional distributor, for about the same price. In Ft. Collins, Team Petroleum on Lincoln Avenue is good. And they're only three or four blocks west of O'Dell's Brewery, so....

Many U.S. aerodromes also have an oil collection facility for used oil, so that's worth looking into.

Thanks. cubscout

Re: Where to buy aviation oil in northern Colorado?

Thanks cubscout, I'll have to see if they do oil collection at the airport here, I know wallmart does if they don't though. I heard about team petroleum from someone on sunday, I tried to call them but they were closed for the day. I'm glad I was able to get oil just a couple miles down the road from where I live though, its much more convenient that way.

Check around your field to see if anybody has a oil burning heater in their hangar. I give all my used oil to John at the Aviation Maintenance Center at Caldwell. Helps keep him warm through the winter.
