Yo Gary-

I concur on the weekend course, it was money well spent. I'll be up at Greggs tomorrow, I could just drop the cd's there. I'll be heading out of town for a week or so. If your in no hurry I can hold onto 'em.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Heads up for written tests

If you are getting ready for an FAA written, read this:
http://www.aopa.org/advocacy/articles/2011/110303knowledge_test_revisions_surprise_scores_suffer.html?WT.mc_id=110304epilot&WT.mc_sect=adv
When I took my IR written, I had two "extra" questions on the test, (62 instead of 60). They were both on areas I would never use as a private pilot. The indication back then was that they wouldn't be used to score the test. Looks like that might have changed. Problem is, this stuff is not covered in any of the prep material yet.

Best bet is to take one of the weekend cram sessions. They collect the surprise questions from their students after they have taken the test so they can at least get the next set of clients ready.

but I'm not afraid

Re: Who has the best home study courses for an inst. rating?

I owe my instrument rating to a generous gentleman named Kim Ruble and the online Sporty's test. It's buried on their web site somewhere. I might be 15 bucks for the full version. Feel good about sending someone in Ohio your money. I will fill one of our potholes or something. You can memorize that bank of 800 some questions after a couple weeks and pass with flying colors. Kim Ruble and his Pathfinder are more difficult to man-handle.
