If it looks smooth, it might be. If it looks rough, it is...www.bigtirepilot.com ...www.alaskaheliski.com
Eastern CO is windy and eats windsocks almost as quickly as WY. I purchased an extra long life windsock from spruce and it's holding up well so far.
Worth the extra money IMO.

Have you considered a high quality AMERICAN flag? They do basically the same job as to wind speed/direction and also show pride in our country......
Proud of my heritage and country......
Ashamed of the recent decades of shortsighted, self indulgent government.

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process...

With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).
Success has many fathers...... Failure is an orphan.
http://www.airportwindsocks.com/My present windsock is 7 years old. Finally shows a little wear but its still orange, not faded.
It has withstood temperatures from -35F to 100F +, winds to 70mph. North Dakota has a lot of wind.
I ordered a new one, have it in the hangar and ready to put up, just waiting for the old one to die.
But its like an old pickup not quite ready to retire.

I second that source..... Mine has lasted for years,,,, it does fade and I will recolor it in a 5 gallon bucket with some Ritz dye... That usually lasts another year or so and then I just put on a new sock. It is damn windy here so I can attest for the durability of the frame.
