What is a Tweel?

Michelin Americas Research Company in Greenville, SC come up with the technology that made this non-pneumatic airless radial tire that brings together the wheel assembly and tire together into one solid unit. A Tweel is made of a rigid hub that is connected to a shear beam with flexible, deformable polyurethane spokes. This essentially allows the entire wheel to function as one single unit instead of like a traditional air filled tire mounted onto a rim. The Tweel tires cannot go flat since they are airless which makes them ideal commercial purposes such as construction, landscaping, contracting, agricultural and recycling yard industries.
