Anybody have or know of a good source for a WIFI wireless weather station kit? Almost everything I'm seeing is a hookup to like Weather underground, not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a station that I can get an (IOS) app for, see wind direction and velocity, temp and dew point, rain and other pertinent data from my phone before landing at my airport L26.

I run mine through Wunderground, and I can see my station real time 24/7. I also use an app on the iphone, PWS monitor, to get directly to the station.

When you run the app on the phone or in my case I can look at my Ipad (yoke mounted) can you see the station like the monitor at home or do you see the WU stuff? and what make and model are you using?

It gives my station info real time, updating every few seconds. The WU page has almanac and other stuff on it, but the PWS app is strictly real time info off the weather station, but, it pulls the data off the WU site.
I use a now antique Oregon Scientific WMR968 station, and have it running through an also antique Dell PC that does nothing but run the wx station.

So what does the screen look like on your phone say on approach or when you're remote from the house/airport?

I think no matter what you do, you will need to pull the data from an Internet service in some way, unless you're able to run your own publicly-accessible endpoint. WU's service is reliable and others can benefit from it like you can from theirs, so that's a nice feature.
There are also ways to rig up a poor man's AWOS than can respond to clicks like PCL does, and transmit a few cycles of observations on something like a multicom freq (122.9, etc). Cost goes up, but you also don't have to be in cell range from your plane to get there, or fumble with a phone app while you're descending and setting up to land. Google it, there are various discussions out there. A lot of people are using old throwaway PC's to do the voice synth, etc but no reason you couldn't run it on a Raspberri Pi and save a lot of power.

I have a Davis Vantage Vue weather station with the optional internet dongle.
I can connect to my station real-time over the Internet via the Davis WeatherLink mobile iPhone app.

Litek has had a Windtalker solution for at least 30 years now. They are still pricey and tied to a landline without any mods (which a lot of people have made for them over the years for AM/FM broadcast as well as 146MHz and other bands, and cell phone connections).
The Wunderground resources have worked well for me when flying to some places...just google for the local zip code, put it into wunderground, and a lot of the time there is a relevant station around.
I have an acquaintance who purchased a weather station from AliBaba which he texts the station and it texts him back the weather. It apparently works fine for him on his remote Colorado grazing range area that has no data available, but has cell phone coverage. I believe it was over a few hundred bucks, though.

Pusher thanks that is what I’m looking for. Is that a model 6250? And I so far am not able to find the WiFi dongle. I tried to call DAVIS but they are on a holiday off schedule. Can you give more info on the dongle?

Yes the 6250 is the model I have. The nice thing about the 6250 is that it has a built in solar panel. When the battery is dead it still broadcast weather data as long as there is day light. The dongle is called Weatherlink IP 6555. You plug this into the Davis base station and then via cable into your router. There are a couple websites specialized on weather stations on the internet eg scientific sales, which have usually very good deals available.
My Davis base station is not close to my router so I used a cheap apple airport express to connect the 6555 via wifi to my Apple home network. I am sure there are similar ways to extend the wifi Network for PCs
Hope this helps.
