Willamette River flying tomorrow 9/1

A few of us are going to fly around the Willamette tomorrow, meeting at KCVO @ 8am and playing on the river in the Corvallis area, then will probably try and see if somewhere is open for breakfast/brunch.

Anyone is welcome to join if they like landing on gravel bars, or flying low on the river, and there will be a float plane to watch!

Float flying notes along the Willamette River:

Fern Ridge Lake ([2] miles East of the Willamette River) is in Class D airspace. A radio call to Eugene Tower is all that's needed. They gave me a transponder code and I practiced setting down there for about an hour. There is floatsam in the water and it is muddy after a rain. Six on a scale of one to ten :D

I talked to a guy recently who had a close call with the Sport Cub on the river, and he asked if it was me. Keep yer eyes peeled.

Yeah you would think everyone on the river near Willamette International would be at least monitoring 122.9... [-X

Sweet picture of the Savannah.

That island; 2 days prior, a friend of mine with a Super Cub; rolled his big tires on it and said it was too short, he thought he could stop on it BUT NOT long enough to take off on :!:

Choss RULES
We invited the Super Cub Boys. Choss is looking for them, but they didn't show.
Where's that Yellow 180 :?:
Fun time had by all

Love your new picture, why did you wait so long to pull the gear up? Was that when I had Jesse in the Maule :?:

Good picture of the Mooney at Lucas. Keeping our eyes out for a set of floats for the red Mooney :!:

Watching you stick the Savannah on the gravel bar today was a special treat. I knew that I'd signed up for an overnight float and fishing trip with the lady and our dogs, but didn't realize I was going to get an airshow in the morning too!

Don't worry, your secret spot is safe with me. I wouldn't have a chance with a 172 in and out of there, anyhow.

How long is that bar? Inquiring minds (specifically, those who fish down there a lot) want to know...

It didn't look too rough either, but not sure how much that was because of your setup.
