Wing X STOL

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Wing X STOL

We have read some reviews that the manufacture has posted but aside from that information about what the general word on the Wing X Stol kit is a mystery to me. If you have this kit installed on your bird I would love to hear about performance increases or undesirable effects of the kit. Are crosswind landings more difficult?

The Good Lord does not deduct those days from our alloted quota, spent fishing, flying or with our Grandchildren.......

wingX

I dont have them on the 170 yet but I have several friends who have them on 185 and 206s they love them! all the guys up north Ive talked to swear by them most would rather have wingX than a robertson. A 185 pilot told me with wingX and R STOL he could land on skis with 5 people at 55mph. As for crosswinds they make almost no diference VGs more than make up the diference.

tricycles are for little girls

I've flown one 185 with them on floats, and they were wonderful. They aren't yet approved in this country on the 170, but when they are.......

They significantly improve takeoff distances, increase gross weight, with little if any performance penalty, and are all in all a good modification.

Down side: Bring $$$ Not cheap, and not cheap to install.

Second Down side: Plane will no longer fit in many T-Hangars.

I believe SkyDown in Caldwell, ID. has the Wing X Stol on both of there 182's. I've heard from one of the pilot's that the kit's are great.

I installed the WingX STOL kit on the 185 around 2003. Everything they advertise on their website is spot on. No difference in crosswind landings.

With Sportsman, WingX and Micro Aero VG's, I do as well as my buddy's 185 with Robertson and VG's...and I have a higher useful load due to the 175# GW increase, a better climb rate and a higher service ceiling. Make sure the 39' wingspan fits in your hangar.

Seaplanes North (old Floats Alaska) @ LHD installed the kit, and I can highly recommend their work.
