Hey... Knock this shit off. I got a broke airplane and am not a happy f**king camper seeing pics of other people out there flying.

I bet you would put up one heck of a fight if someone told you that you had to give up your big tires now after using 'em awhile and no doubt "falling in love" with them.

No way Steve, I ain't giving them up! I was a little surprised when I got out to drain the sump and take that picture: it felt pretty smooth, the size of the gravel was unfelt, I'm down to 4.5 psi so its a Cadillac ride for sure.

Re: Winter gravel bar landing

I love your pics Tom. I hope we can drop in on you next summer. Give Weav a hard time to get his 7 back in the air. You know that Joel Milloway is back in ID, around ID Falls.

Couple questions for you:

1) how will the ABW handle puncture vines? Those things are prevalent around us and will cause flats in ATV tires. After that day of flying before xmas I posted about, I had half a dozen in my GY 26"s but they are 6 ply, so not an issue. Any thoughts of how the ABW handles these? If I like the GY's this much, I think I would go ga-ga over the ABW's

2) I have been really trying to get proficient at flying slow approaches in my S7S. Flying 38-40 or so on the approach, then down to 35 on short final. I find that if I try to fly slower than that, my deck angle is so high, I just can't keep the landing spot in site. I can slip, but don't like whipping it straight in tight spaces. Do you find the same, and do you just "deal with it"? I have VG's on wing and under tail. The landshorter.com style.

Maybe we can get some folks to come drop in on you this summer and you can take us out to all your super secret landing spots!

Gump,

Come shovel the snow off the runway and Ill bring the Commander down and tow you around the sky for awhile. Might do that thing some good to get some fast air over the wings

Emmett, come on up, lets do some flying next year. Hell yes!
At to the puncture weeds, man I hate those things..., I remember Nampa Id. and Ontario, Ore. having a problem with them, they sure play hell with a bicycles tire, I found out. I have no idea as to the Bushwheel weakness there, or not. I kinda think it's not a problem..?? One more thing to worry about! You may have a valid reason for those stiff heavy tires you're running!
I seem to have good viz, no problems with high angle vision blockout, or maybe I don't just care? I'm only 5'8" (at most) but I do use a temperfoam cushion, which may raise me up an inch or so. I do often hold a forward slip right up until touchdown, but usually to get in someplace short, not for good viz. I'll have to think about that the next time I'm coming in.
