Winter is Coming! Sept. 13' (Video)

It is long, but tells a story. This is just the footage I had on my drift and phone although we took a lot of footage on the ground with several other cameras. When I have it, I will cut and add to really get the full picture of the adventure and the 6 days we spent at Cold Meadows and eventually Root Ranch to dry out. I had to make two trips to get us and all our gear out, that is why there are several sets of tracks.

Thanks guys, and Z, the music comment means something.

GT, the 35's made a difference this trip for sure, and for the record, I had every intention of lining up on the centerline, setting my directional compass, going through my checklists and then starting my departure. But, things happen and next thing you know, you are in the air :D

Haha CW, thanks!
I'd be lying if I said that quote wasn't going through my mind as I was pulling music off of my Itunes account!

Boy, getting stranded in the Idaho backcountry would seem like a dream. But that had all the makings of a nightmare. That being said, it made for a great story and a cool video! Glad you're ok!

Just curious, how many feet do you estimate it took to get airborne loaded like that and in the slush?

The departure in the video was my second departure as I made two trips to get all of our gear and my Brother in law out. The first takeoff was like none I have ever experienced, especially in X-ray. I suspect I used 1500-2000ft. Just when it felt ready to fly, it would sink and bog down again. This happened several times. I had enough time to tray all the different flap positions on the takeoff roll..... #-o If you look closely in the video of the cold meadows departure, looking back, you can see some tracks off to the left where I was on and off the ground. That was the first departure
