With this buttload of Skywagon threads...

Seems like we could compile one of these:

http://www.backcountrypilot.org/knowledge-base/aircraft/modifications/162-piper-pa-20-22

A list of the best STC'd backcountry mods for the n00bs to ponder when they buy their original 180's. 8) Then we link them to BigRenna's thread so they can start weeping.

Edit:

Skywagon mods page is underway.

The formatting in the article is such that open access would be a nightmare. Just paste what you want in this thread in the format of the article:

Modification name/description
STC Number (and URL to FAA website record)
STC Holder (and URL to their website with product page if possible)

repeat

More importantly, who gets their airplane pic on the article? :D

Re: With this buttload of Skywagon threads...

Thanks Greg.

When I published the Pacer list that Steve's Aircraft compiled for me, it took me hours to collect all the STC URl's to the FAA site, as well as the manufacturer websites. While I can still do the STC links, anyone posting in here would help me immensely if they provided URLs to the manufacturers.

Pretty close to the same but adding a bit more black (leading edges) and a small swath of "Im not certain yet" down the lower fuselage...Orange, green, red maybe orange?...just something to make it pop more in photos and for the unthinkable need for someone having to find me. As of now I m invisible in the snow and almost the same against the mountains. Don't really need to hide and want to pop more in pics. It also needs a new paint job just for the sake of it as it has not been done in years.

Wanting it done before...Valdez in May...

Shameless plug.....

AeroPod Cargo Pod STC#SA00064DE

Great way to maximize the utility of your 185, and maybe 180 if 'Renna can convince me to help with a field approval.

Re: With this buttload of Skywagon threads...

You guys are awesome.

Aeropod, no worries about shameless plugs. I have solicited this information and am asking for commercial links. As long as it's backcountry-related it's cool. You'll need to provide the link to the FAA database record and your product website.

Great idea! Here's a couple that haven't been mentioned so far:

Selkirk Fiberglass Extended Baggage kit (flush) STC: SA1102SE
Plane Power Belt Driven Alternator Conversion STC: SA10682SC
Burl's Firewall Battery STC: SA02361AK

I'll edit this post to add more STCs and detail when I get some time.

Tony- if you have a better picture I can re-post. Here is a picture of the AeroPod STC in action on a few 185s.

Re: With this buttload of Skywagon threads...

Sorry Z, no website. We're low tech at Aeropod so far. I'm working on a new STC, so maybe when that gets approved I will put a site together. Here is the fed link though.

rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgstc.nsf/0/294DD54CA41BB98485256CC1007DC75B?OpenDocument&Highlight=sa00064de

My computer just went tango uniform, so I'm recovering from that episode, but if you want more pics let me know and I can dig some up.

Another great mod for skywagons, which happens to be my new STC, is the addition of inspection panels just above the leading edge of the horizontal on the fuselage. I'm hoping for approval in the next 8 weeks. Price has yet to be determined but I anticipate it to be in the 1000-1500 range. I'll add the info here when I get the blessing.
