Wrote a Big Check to the Power Company

Hello Backcountry Pilots,
Anyway I wrote a big check to the Idaho Power Co-Op in Grangeville on Friday. They are installing 4 new poles on my property and going under-ground on my runway on January 2nd. This has been a huge project but it's almost done. The weather forcast is for clear and cold which will be good for the equipment on the frozen ground.
I also put up a gate this week to keep anyone from driving on the freshly seeded runway too. Looking forward to a great year of flying at Clear Creek.

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

Wow, your making great progress. Kind of painful after shelling out all that dough. I'm sure you'll feel your strip is alot safer not thinking about those wires each time you come and go.
I'm down in Utah right now visiting family. Spent 2.5 hrs in a Zenith 701 exploring the countryside. Man, that thing can sure get off the ground quick. That plane could crawl along at 20mph with out stalling, amazing.
We're only 9mi south of you. We should get together.

SM:

Looks like a fun place congratulations!!

Since you are writing a "big check" anyway, did you give any thoughts to telling the power company to take a hike and install solar instead??

Looking great fellow and your tenacity is amazing! Can't wait to put 04D in the pattern at KCCI.
I'm just plain jealous! If I camp on your strip, will I get any visitors during the night?

Hello Backcountry Pilots,
The power company rolls in on Wednesday. According to the forcast the temperatures will be in the teens so the ground should be firm for the backhoe and boom trucks. Now that Christmas is over I'm ready for springtime and some flying. "Clear Creek International" ID79 is within 50 flying miles of a lot of destination airstips to include, Wilson Bar, Elk City, Dixie, Salmon Bar, Fish Lake, Moose Creek, Shearer, and many others.
I look forward to visits from my BCP friends. Summer time at Clear Creek offers a private swimming hole, and a lazy inner-tube float through our property. We have plenty of firewood, and some creekside camping spots. Looks like we are retiring my wife's tired old Ford Windstar van as a airport vehicle too.

Happy New Year,

James

Note, I have removed some of the trees shown on the approach end since this picture. It will still be a pretty tricky strip!
