Anybody have an ELT available for sale? My ACK E-01 is no longer functional, not sure about investing in a new 406 unit.

I have a complete (with wiring harness and remote switch) Emerging Lifesaving Technologies 406 ELT with internal GPS. I was used, but sent in to the manufacturer for certification.
Reach out if interested.

Actually, you really do want a 406 unit. The satellite monitoring of 121.5 was turned off a few years ago.

PM sent Bob.
Dale, thanks for mentioning it, I am aware of the monitoring and accuracy issues. Always multiple things to consider.

I'm not aware of what would be a consideration to still use a 121.5 ELT anymore. We pilots have a responsibility to both family and searchers to be found as quickly as possible. The 406 provides the most accurate and fastest location. Yes an InReach can be used as well or a spot even with that there can be quite a distance flown between markings. Most likely you will crash in bad weather. Then searchers are going to be flying in that same weather putting themselves at risk. Also it REALLY sucks to be on the ground wondering what happened while the search goes on. An ELT wouldn't be the item I would go cheap on. It really shouldn't take a requirement to have one installed, it is only common sense. Maybe you don't care about being found as quickly as possible as you hand upside down in a tree but perhaps your family might want to know or it could save hundreds of hours of searchers time and risk.
406 over 121.5 is about as settled as anything in aviation.
