Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

WTF? Crazy crawler treads on a 150

One of the new photos posted shows a 150 with treads. As an old cat skinner, I couldn't help but think they were neat as hell. Can someone tell me more about them? Looks like they would work in very soft fields, snow (hard packed), and grass strips like a champ. What do they weigh, how much do they cost, and how does the drag compare to naked tires?

Saw a picture of one under a tent with at Mattracks sign next to it. I went to the Mattracks.com website. They have similar tracks but I didn't see anything about them for aircraft.

Looks kinda cool but do they work and how much do they weigh?

Life is good. Life is better with wings.

This appears to be them, if not, the pictures look almost identical with the exception of the yellow powder coat.

No information as to weight or cost, I can't imagine they'd be better than some bush wheels.

I saw that at Oshkosh a few years ago. It was at the track store as a DRAW people in devise. It worked very good. They also had them on a ford F250, and ATV's etc.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

No Photoshop on that one Rocky, this was before I had the program :D

I think they actually flew this airplane if I remember rightly. Talk to the Mattracks guys about it.

Rolling resistance! How about aerodynamic drag? Could that thing get over 80 Kts? IMHO just ridiculous unless you actually WANT to land on muskeg!

They may not be that bad, Karman Vortex Street is what causes my gear to flutter with the 29" tires

It also causes a lot of drag on a shape you may think is aerodynamic

These wouldn't have that so drag could be way less than you think

Not saying it couldn't T/O, but I would like to see what it did to the T/O roll.

Tracked gear was tried before WWII.... and it didn't work that great then either. Somewhere, I've seen a few pics of a Fairchild C82 (or maybe it was a 119??) with tracks and a JATO system.
