Yippee

Yippee I got my tail wheel endorsement today.
Now I can Legally fly by my self. :D [-X [-X

I have been flying a the hell out of it, well as much as the warden (my wife) will let me. Just need somewhere cool to go, Indiana is pretty lame.
It is so flat you can watch your dog run away for a week.

Re: Yippee

Congrats!! =D> Must be a great feeling? Have you been in touch with the guys over in Ohio? They seem to have a lot of fun over there (according to the video's I've seen).

Mongo, Don't do this after a lot of rain, but you have about a million acres of harvested soybean fields in Indiana. They are always fun. John

Re: Yippee

Mongo,
"should be easy" and "watch this" aren't good things to hear involving an airplane.
Be carefull! That Cub guy doing the same thing is probably named Orville. (lot's of experience)

I love it! Never heard that one before! I was born in Ohio and spent my first few years there. That saying reminded me of my first dog named "Bullet". He was a mongrol and loved to chase the trains that went by real near our house. The tracks were straight as an arrow. I swear I could watch the train and Bullet for 15 or 20 minutes as they disappeared into the distance. I wouldn't see Bullet again till there was a train coming the other way!

Anyway, congratulations on your tailwheel endorsement! May you never regret it! =D>

My closest call came on a 150' wide runway. Fancy that.

Re: Yippee

Mongo, have you been into any short tight grass strips with your instructor in the plane your flying now? If not, please do. I don't mean to discount your skills, but noticed you just bought your plane and (i believe) a very low time TW pilot. Practice as many spot landings as you can.

Be careful. I just don't want to see/hear a fellow pilot get hurt/bend up his plane. Especially a Backcountrypilot.org friend.

Please don't take offence, just trying to help out.

Have fun!!

Re: Yippee

58Skylane,
No offence taken.
I have been in some tight strips with my instructor but there is no doubt I am low time and need a lot more practice.
So currently I try to make every TO and Landing as short as possible.

By the way Mozilla Firefox rocks (read: Spell check)

Re: Yippee

Congratulations, Mongo!

I used to own a 7GCBC and loved it! I flew it from coast to coast, into Oshkosh, did a bunch of camping with it, etc.

When you get some time and money, find a good aerobatics instructor and get some rigorous aerobatics/spin training so that you can take advantage of all the 7GCBC can do.

It's really cool to be able to do a few "victory rolls" on the way home from a camping trip.

Just to emphasize -- do get the instruction. Remember, it's knowing how to fix things when you screw up that's the most important piece of aerobatics instruction. Get exposed to every spin condition you can with a seasoned instructor. It's fun! Enjoy it!

Re: Yippee

That's why my endorsement took so long, we have been doing bot aerobatics and my endorsement, haven't done a loop yet as we have to borrow some chutes.
With the VGs it is hard to get the plane to spin you really have to force it.
It doesn't really stall, full rear trim and the stick against the stop with just, me shows 35-40mph nose high attitude with 500-600 fpm descent. It feels so controllable you could do an approach at 40, but i think i will stay at 55-60
