yoke height for panel upgrade
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
hey guys I am doing a panel upgrade to my 65' 185. I am trying to add a g3x in a 10 inch. Avionics shop is telling me there is not enough height between the top of the yoke where it goes through panel and top of panel. I know there have been issues with the width and centering it over the yoke but I did not know of any height issues. Anyone have any information to add to enlighten me before I have to make a decision?
Thanks,
Gypsy

You might want to contact Garmin directly via tech support email and ask them as well. Just a thought.

Will a 7-inch landscape version fit? If acceptable, let Garmin know of your request (the $ertified TXi version can be had in 7-inch landscape, so there is precedent).

From this, as well as your other post saying you had to buy a new sub panel because of trimming, I would strongly recommend looking at other avionics shops. I have been involved in three 10" G3X touch (landscape) installs in 180/185s now.

I just did a complete panel upgrade in my 1965 180. Same thing, a 10” G3X will not fit. Two 3x’s in vertical could be made to fit on either side. I ended up with a 500Txi in landscape orientation because it is slightly smaller than the G3X even though the screen size is the same.

185 panels have always seemed 6 feet tall to me. Funny that it's a challenge to fit a G3X Touch, but I understand why.

FWIW... The 7" G3x Touch in portrait is the exact same size as the 10" in landscape.
