You know your wife is a keeper when....

They put up with our flying habits, want lists for our airplanes and all the time we spend in our hangars.
But when they change light bulbs for ya, you know you got a keeper.

Okay, and she's brave too!

When I trashed my plane in the backcountry back in '06, that evening she asks, "What color is the new one going to be?". Yup, she's a keeper.

She was always a keeper and she likes to fly.

Here she is in the sunglasses and cross taking flying lessons.

Shit, I always thought you knew they were a keeper when you realized how much a divorce would cost!

Re: You know your wife is a keeper when....

Three kids all 6 or under traipsing around the backcountry for multi week trips, then wants to go do it again...and let's me buy a plane so we can keep doing it. Definitely a keeper! Of course, I knew that back in college when she would pay for half the flying after a day in the backcountry playing!

We are lucky men!

Re: You know your wife is a keeper when....

Nicest thing anyone has ever said to me:

Many moons ago we were building a new log house, an opportunity came up to buy a SuperCub, but really not a good time to take on another expense. I was innocently watching a floatplane fly over, & she announced: "The house can wait, go buy your damn plane"! I thought about that for a nanosecond & called & made the deal. :)

Re: You know your wife is a keeper when....

My wife says... go by the nano second rule always. It takes longer than that to think and say "Honey" should we do that now. Just got back from 13 days on the road looking for a new plane. She said, " stay still you get one... and make it a pretty one". She says I might have blown it by not going to the mid west to see the yellow one. Anyway, I like red, white and blue. Born in '53 on the 4th of July... so she understands.
Now, she says Santa must find a helmet... that looks just dorky enough.
And some nomex. She is a keeper.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Naw... The divorces are worth every penny in the long run. Guess it's like women and the pain of childbirth. After a couple decades you forget how much it hurts when they rip your wallet up your ass and out through your chest, so you go do it again.

Though I somehow lucked in to a good one this time.

Reno Chick: "You don't like this airplane do you."

Me: "No, it's a gutless POS. It doesn't do anything well except cost money. I'm gonna give it to the grandkids so they can learn to fly a tailwheel. Can't get anything for it if I sell it."

Reno Chick: "Hmmmmm, maybe we need two. One to go play in the desert, and one for long trips. How much are Mooneys?"

Maybe she won't squawk when I price out that B-200 King Air.

When you slide through a fence when your not even married yet, and as your pissed at your own stupidity and punching the panel, her first words are don't worry, you can keep flying. We'll get the plane fixed or buy another... got myself a good one.

I won't comment on "I lucked into a good one this time",
But, the KingAir 200….
If there ever was a plane to compare to the legendary DC-3!

If I were to start buying Lottery Tickets, and win, I would own a KA200.
The most enjoyable aircraft I've ever flown! (more than nine type ratings)
Screw all the Jets…. they are boring.… and mostly limited to boring airports.
Screw all the PC-12's and the like too. Real turbine powered airplanes have two engines…. and propellers!
There aren't a lot of landing sites that I've been in my 185 that I couldn't go into with a 200…. on high float gear of course!
Shit, if I got one, the wife would probably start talking to me again…. Hmmmm, maybe I shouldn't get one :?
On second thought, maybe I'll keep the 185 :)

BTW, I wouldn't trade the wife for anything less than a '84 or newer 200.
PM me with any offers :)
Pictures on request!

She went flying with me on our first date. Scenic flight from South County, over the top and out over Monterey Bay. Sunset Summer evening. I asked, "So, you gonna stay in the Bay Area the rest of your life?" She says "Hell no". Yank! Set the hook.

You know you have a keeper when she takes her life savings and says "build me a beach cottage by the airport at Pacific City, I love flying there"

I'm retired and flying to socal and Arizona in January for sun and she is still teaching school in wet and cold NW Oregon.

Yep she is a keeper.

Mows grass too
