A good buddy and mentor of mine passed last week at the ripe old age of 89. He has been flying since the 1940's and still held his CFI current, even with no valid medical he liked to keep current. He has led a storied life and could be found most days around the Moncks Corner, SC airport where he had a fleet of old Cessna trainers for rent. He once was a live in Airport Manager at a small airport in Iowa, among other jobs. I believe he instructed and managed the Niles, Michigan airport at some point as well.
Anyways, Ray was a airport bum of the biggest kind. Great pilot, Instructor and mentor to hundreds of pilots over the years. Not to mention a great friend. I am posting just in case anyone here might have known him over the years.
